Regional Development Fund

The Regional Development Fund aims to strengthen missional links between UnitingCare Ageing and the wider Uniting Church through assistance to the Presbyteries and local congregations.  The Regional Development Fund provides one-off non recurrent funding to encourage congregations and/or the Presbytery and other community groups to expand existing programs and develop new and innovative programs to support people in their community.

Criteria for applications

The criteria for applications vary slightly from region to region and are assessed by each Regional Board.  The below list should assist you in putting together your application. 

This funding is set aside for projects that will benefit the community. Intending applicants should note the following:

1. Submissions will only be considered for projects that will benefit and add value to communities;
2. Projects focusing on the development and provision of services for which there is a demonstrated and quantifiable need, including projects that focus on the needs of people living with dementia, will be well regarded;
3. Projects may benefit people who are financially disadvantaged, socially disadvantaged or vulnerable because of their special needs;
4. Projects which address special needs groups, including people who are financially or socially disadvantaged, people with disabilities who are ageing, older people from non-English speaking backgrounds or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities will be well regarded.
5. Monies are not available for normal running costs of the Parish, or to top-up the running costs of an Parish;
6. Applications must include a breakdown of the costs, as well as the total cost of the whole item or project;
7. Each project must have a designated Project Manager who is responsible for the management of the project until it is completed and a report submitted to the local UnitingCare Ageing Regional Board. 
8. Where appropriate, applications should include GST allowance in their overall budget calculations;
9. Projects should be suitable to be implemented and copied by other congregations;
10. Applications will be assessed against the criteria determined by the local UnitingCare Ageing Regional Board. 

Process after Applications for Funding have been Approved

1. All applicants will be notified by mail regarding the decision whether or not to fund the proposed project.
2. Successful applicants will be required to submit a report at the completion of the project to the relevant UnitingCare Ageing Regional Board. If it is anticipated that the project will not be completed as per the application form, a progress report must be submitted to justify the extension of the time frame.  
3.  Each report must follow a standard format, set out in Section (4) below, and should be mailed to the relevant UnitingCare Ageing Region.  

 

Progress Reports on Approved Projects

UnitingCare Ageing Regional Boards expect reports to provide sufficient information to demonstrate that the requirements and conditions of the funding are being met.

Each report must follow the standard format set out below. Please number your responses and include the headings:

1. Name of the project;
2. Appointed Project Manager;
3. Contact details;
4. Name of Parish;
5. Date of funding approval by UnitingCare Ageing
6. Start date of project;
7. Expected completion date (approx);
8. Brief outline of the project (assume that the people reading your report are not familiar with the project);
9. Amount funded;
10. A detailed outline of the progress of the project (at least half an A4 page). Please address the key aspects of the project, particularly those identified in points 6 to 9 of the original application form.  Again, assume that people are not familiar with the project;
11. Expenditure to date (please list the main items of expenditure with associated amounts).
