UnitingCare Ageing Western Region employ over 1,000 staff, who care for more than 2,000 people through a wide range of aged care services. The Western Region has a commitment to the highest possible standards of quality and innovative aged and community care in an environment that focuses on all members of the community - clients, staff and relatives.

We care for over 2,000 people living in our facilities, as well as those members of the community whom we assist through our community aged care programs and services in their own home. The Western Region has over 210 volunteers and 7 Chaplains.

 

UnitingCare Ageing Western Region manage 27 facilities – 15 Independent Living Villages (self care), 1 Affordable Housing Lodge, 7 hostels (low care) and 5 Nursing Homes.

 

Community Care

Western Region recognises that most people wish to remain in their homes for as long as possible but may find this difficult without assistance. Help can be provided regardless the level of care you, a family member or friend is seeking – Community Care – can be either brought to your home or is available in a service in your local community.

Community Care include home care, private nursing, medication assistance, life skills education and respite for carers and clients.

 

Independant Living

Our region offers 563 Independant Living places at 17 different sites throughout Western Sydney and rural communities such as Narrandera.  Some of these units are situated within our aged care villages and some are offered as stand alone villages.  Independant Living Villages provide accommodation for people over 55 years with an independent and secure lifestyle.  Our one and two bedroom units are primarily for people who wish to live independently. The resident has the opportunity to organise external services to be delivered to their home, such as laundry, cleaning, meals and personal care. 

The advantages of Independant Living Village accommodation includes organised home and grounds maintenance, companionship and security whilst maintaining an independent lifestyle.

 

Nursing Homes (also known as high – level care homes)

Nursing homes provide 24 hour nursing and care services for aging people who are frail, suffer from dementia or have other high care needs.

 

Hostels (also known as low-level care or assisted care)
Hostels are available for people who need a limited amount of support.  Most people in low-care homes are very mobile.  The provision of personal care, meals, laundry, cleaning, therapy and activities coordinated by caring and qualified staff assists the residents to maintain a high quality independent life.

UnitingCare Ageing is the agency responsible for implementing the Uniting Church’s aged care policy.

 

Western Region Aged Care Board

 

The Western Region Aged Care Board is the governing body of UnitingCare Ageing, Western Region. The skills of the Board members of Western Region are significant and comprehensive, and include experience in property, board directorships, associations with the uniting Church, nursing, physiotherapy, aged care management, strategic planning, legal, finance, business management and customer service.

 

Appointed by the UnitingCare Ageing Board, each Board member has a three year term. The charter of the Board is to set the strategic direction for the Western Region and work closely with the Region’s executive team.
