Parramatta Community Men's Shed

They're on their way!

On the 21st January 2011, UnitingCare Ageing Western Region was proud to take part in the official launch of the Parramatta Community Men’s Shed.  The Shed – the latest of twelve men’s shed activities that Western Region proudly supports – was the recipient of seed funding, from our 2010 Regional Development Grants Program, so that the men could lay down the slab to get them on their way.  Together with other grant funding, from the State Government, the men now have the funding in place to get their shed to the lock up stage. Our photo shows  Jenny Coutts, UnitingCare Ageing Western Regional Director, flanked by members of the shed’s steering committee and Clr. Scott Lloyd of Parramatta City Council – on the slab – at the official launch.  The shed is situated on Northmead Uniting Church property and is joint venture of the UnitingCare Ageing, the Church’s community outreach program, and Parramatta RSL Sub-branch - a wonderful example of community stakeholders coming together in an endeavour that will enrich the lives of the older members of their community.
